Gearing machines are commonly used in factories and various manufacturing plants. Any iron or metal can be threaded using these machines.

There are mainly two types of gear machines: spur gear and rack and pinion gear.

Spur gearing machines are used for threading outside cylindrical surfaces. There are cutting blades on the machine for threading. Dimensions are adjusted according to the material to be threaded. The machine body is made entirely of high alloy steel. Threading machines are used for threading of parts such as screws and drill bits.

Rack and pinion gears are generally used in machine tools that move vertically and in devices that allow the cranes to move back and forth or in some control mechanisms. The rack and pinion pair is used to convert circular motion to linear motion. Rack and pinion gearing machines can be opened with special apparatus.

Both types of threading machines are machines that pose a danger to worker health during their work. In accordance with the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, controls of these machines and equipment should be carried out firstly in periods and criteria that the manufacturer considers appropriate, unless a different period and condition is specified in the relevant standards. However, if the manufacturer does not specify any period or condition, a risk assessment should be performed by considering the workplace environment conditions, frequency and duration of use of these machines and periodic controls should be performed accordingly. However, these periods should not exceed one year. This issue is discussed in the annex of the mentioned regulation (Annex 3) under the heading Machine Tools.

In testing and inspection organizations, these control studies are carried out by mechanical engineers, machine technicians or high technicians.
