Implementation of the new LVD Regulation in Turkey

The new Low Voltage Directive (LVD), published in the European Union countries in 2014 under the New Approach Directives, is an important place in the design and manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment and equipment for safety problems for human, animal and environmental health. It holds. In accordance with this directive, it is possible to affix the CE marking on the products and thus have the right to free movement in the European Union market. The CE marking on the products proves that these products are suitable for the European Union market.

CE marking on the products is possible after testing and measurements in accredited laboratories. However, LVD tests prove that these products are safe from electrical and mechanical hazards to humans, animals and the environment.

In our country, the Regulation on Electrical Equipment Designed for Specific Voltage Limits (2016 / 2014 / EU) was published in 35 based on the mentioned directive.

The fact that electrical and electronic products are structurally safe on the one hand and conform to the relevant legal regulations and standards in terms of energy efficiency are also proved by LVD tests to be performed within the framework of LVD regulations. In this way, both manufacturers can offer their products to the market safely and consumers can use these products without any doubt.

The validity period of the LVD tests performed is 10 years. Producers must maintain LVD test results for electrical and electronic equipment in the technical file during the 10 year.

LVD has a wide range of tests. These include: electrical resistance, electrical resistance for internal conductors, power measurement, temperature test, insulation resistance, balance test, flame retardancy test, leakage current test, electric field measurement, soil continuity, thermal resistance, humidification, insulation intervals measurement, capacity discharge test and mechanical tests.

When performing LVD tests, firstly, it is checked whether the manufacturing companies provide continuity in production activities in accordance with the relevant standards and legal regulations. In addition, the company should have prepared a technical file. This file must also contain a declaration of conformity to the European Union. This declaration is included in the annex to the LDV regulation (Annex 4). Finally, the CE marking must be affixed on the product or on its packaging or on its documentation.
