What is the LVD Directive 2014 / 35 / AB?

The Regulation on Electrical Equipment (2016 / 2014 / EU), designed by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology for specific voltage limits, was published in 35. The regulation covers electrical devices and equipment designed and manufactured to operate at voltages between 50 Volt - 1000 Volt for alternating current and 75 Volt - 1500 Volt for direct current. Electrical devices with these features but which are not covered by this regulation are listed separately in the annex of the regulation (Annex 2). For example, electrical devices designed and manufactured for use in explosive atmospheres are outside the scope of this regulation. In addition, household plugs and sockets, electrical meters, electrical components of freight and passenger elevators, specially manufactured evaluation kits to be used only by qualified personnel in research and development facilities, or specially designed electrical devices and equipment used in ships, aircraft and railways in accordance with international safety provisions. beyond the scope of the regulation.

LVD Directive 2014 / 35 / EU, or simply the Low Voltage DirectiveElectrical equipment may only be placed on the market, provided that they are manufactured in accordance with good engineering practices in force with respect to safety issues and that they are properly installed, protected and used in accordance with their intended purpose for the safety of people, pets or goods.

The basic requirements for the safety of electrical devices designed and manufactured between the specified voltage limit values described above are listed in the annex of the regulation (Annex 1). According to this,

  • In order to ensure that the electrical devices or equipment they present on the market are recognized and used safely in accordance with the production purpose, the manufacturer must explain the basic stimulant characteristics of the product on the product or on a document to be submitted to the product.
  • Producers must produce electrical devices or equipment together with their components in such a way that they can be installed and connected safely and correctly.
  • Producers must produce electrical devices and equipment in such a way as to provide the necessary protection against the hazards caused by the electrical device itself or caused by external factors, provided that it is used and maintained for its intended purpose.
