LVD Testing Requirements in Import and Export

Free movement of electrical and electronic equipment, equipment and systems in many foreign countries, particularly in the European Union, depends on the results of the test report and the technical file, certificate of conformity and declaration of conformity to be prepared by the manufacturer.

Import or export operations of electrical or electronic devices, equipment or systems that are not manufactured in accordance with the relevant standards or which have not been complied with in accordance with the applicable regulations during production are prevented. In order for such products to pass freely through customs, necessary documents must be available.

A one-day delay during import and export operations causes time and money loss in enterprises. The loss of reputation that enterprises will suffer from is therefore more difficult to compensate.

Based on the Low Voltage Directive (LVD), the legal regulation prepared by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, shortly known as the Low Voltage Directive, is the Regulation on Electrical Equipment Designed for Specific Voltage Limits (2014 / 35 / EU).

In order for electrical and electronic products to bear the CE mark, they must comply with the regulations and the relevant standards. LVD tests are performed by independent and independent accredited testing and inspection organizations. The test report must be kept by the manufacturer in the technical file. The manufacturer also has to carry out risk analyzes of the product and put the results into the technical file. A document to be included in the technical dossier is the declaration of conformity to the European Union. After these preparations are completed, CE mark can be put on the product and there is no problem in import and export transactions of this product.

The following are a few standards that are referenced in the tests to be carried out within the scope of the mentioned regulation:

  • TS EN 60335-1 Safety rules - For household and similar electrical appliances - Section 1: General rules
  • TS EN 60065 Audio, video and similar electronic devices - Safety rules
  • TS EN 62031 LED modules for general lighting - Safety features
  • TS EN 62040-1 Uninterruptible power systems (KGS) - Part 1: General rules and safety rules for KGS
  • TS EN 60601-1 Electrical and medical equipment - Part 1: General requirements for basic safety and performance
