LVD Tests

All kinds of construction machines are used in almost every field in the industrial sector. Most of these machines are powered by electrical energy. Every point of electricity is dangerous for people's life and property safety.

In order to eliminate the risks of low voltage in the European Union countries, the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) was first published in 1973 in 73 / 23 / EEC. However, taking into account new inventions, new methods and new risks in the technology world, this directive was revised in 2006 and the Low Voltage Directive 2006 / 95 / EC was published. Lastly, the Low Voltage Directive 2014 / 2014 / EU was issued in 35 since the same need continues to grow.

Within the scope of the harmonization studies with the European Union, the changes in our domestic law followed in this direction. In this respect, the provisions of the Regulation on Electrical Equipment Designed for Voltage Limits (2016 / 2014 / EU) issued by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology in the last 35 year are complied with today. This regulation is known as Low Voltage Regulation in practice.

Some basic changes have been made to this regulation. For example, in order to put CE marking on the products, the results of the risk analysis and evaluation of the product, the certificate of conformity to the product standard and the Declaration of Conformity to the European Union must be included in the technical file to be prepared. If there is no appropriate standard for the product, appropriate local standards or standards issued from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) traffic shall be taken into consideration. In addition, the products must have statements indicating the basic characteristics of the product. An important change is the inclusion of pets in the scope of safety. In this way, the introduction and inspection of these products has become more powerful.

Naturally, construction machinery is included in the scope of the said regulation. Most, if not all, of the machines are powered by electricity. The main standard used in LVD testing of construction equipment is:

  • TS EN 60204-1 Safety in machines - Electrical equipment for machines - Part 1: General rules

This standard covers electrical, electronic and programmable electronic devices and systems for machines that are not hand-carried during operation.
