Why Low Voltage Directive Tests?

When an electrical appliance or equipment is used under normal conditions, its live parts must not come into contact with persons using these tools. Failure to do so may result in electrical shock. The Low Voltage Directive (LVD) tests are carried out to determine whether the insulation of these devices is designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the legal regulations and the relevant standards. At the same time, the quality and durability of the insulating material used are determined by these tests.

The voltage applied for the test in accordance with the directives is between 50 and 1000 Volts in alternating current and 75 and 1500 Volts in direct current. In order for any low voltage electrical device or equipment to be marketed in European Union countries, these products must be marked with the CE mark.

Producer companies are obliged to have the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) tests of the products and to keep the results in the technical file they will prepare for ten years.

LVD tests ensure the safety and quality of these vehicles while ensuring the safety of people and property.

CE marking is not allowed on devices and equipment that have not passed the LVD tests correctly. These products do not have a chance to find buyers in the market. LVD tests of electric vehicles, especially used in the industrial sector, are extremely important in terms of providing safety of life and property. It is also important for the protection of the environment.

The scope of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) tests carried out by the testing and inspection bodies is quite extensive. In this context, besides the insulation tests of the devices and equipment, tests are also carried out for physical strength, earth continuity, leakage current, high voltage and combustion properties. The purpose of these tests is to assure that these products will not cause harm to users or that they may cause minimal damage in the event of a potentially hazardous situation.

Products that do not have LVD tests and do not have CE marking may not enter European Union countries or be offered to the domestic market in our country. It is in favor of the enterprises to carry out these tests in laboratories that are accredited and reliable, quality and fast.
