Jib Crane Periodic Inspection and Inspection

For machines that are legally dangerous by lifting and transporting operations, basic health and safety measures must be taken to eliminate these risks. Consequently, cranes are among the machines that are at risk for human health and property safety. Lifting machines are also called winches. Crane types such as bridge cranes, gantry cranes, tower cranes, mobile cranes and cable cranes also include jib cranes.

Jib cranes are cranes that can be easily transported and make lifting operations simple and flexible. It can be used wherever it is needed with the movement mechanism added to some types. They are standard cranes used in confined spaces or around a machine. In some businesses, it is very suitable for transferring parts between consecutive workstations. Jib cranes can lift weights from 250 kg to 5 tons as standard. Some types are self-column, some types are mounted to the existing column.

In the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, jib cranes are handled in the group of lifting and transmitting machines. Jib cranes must have the power to lift and suspend at least 1,25 of the declared load, and to have braking systems that allow it to carry and stabilize the load.

In the static tests carried out by the inspection bodies, it is checked whether there is a structural defect under the overload of the crane. In dynamic tests, it is checked whether the crane works as expected and does not make any failure by using the maximum working load.

Our company conducts regular checks and inspections of jib cranes within the scope of periodic controls of lifting and conveying machines in accordance with the standards published by domestic and foreign organizations. About this A few standards are based on:

  • TS 10116 Lifting and conveying machines - Cranes - Inspection and test methods
  • Steel wire ropes - Safety - Section 12385: Operation and maintenance information
  • TS ISO 4309 Cranes - Wire ropes - Application rules for inspection and decommissioning
