Monorail Crane Periodic Inspection and Inspection

Monorail cranes are machines which are used in lifting, loading, transporting and similar works by working on a single rail and they are included in the group of lifting and transmitting vehicles in legal regulations. Monorail cranes are mostly used in confined spaces. In monorail cranes, the horizontal movement, ie the transport function, is provided manually or by an electric motor. Generally, monorail cranes are manufactured in different types in accordance with the demands of the enterprises within the framework of certain standards and safety conditions and having different lifting capacities.

Monorail cranes should only be used for their intended purpose and as specified in the instruction manual. It should also be used by experienced and trained operators who are aware of potential hazards. In the event of a malfunction, the operation of the crane must be stopped immediately and the malfunction eliminated. If these rules are not followed, monorail cranes pose a risk to human health and property safety.

Monorail cranes are mainly used to carry loads on a horizontal or inclined line. Steel ropes are generally used in monorail cranes used in factories and large enterprises, and chains are used in types called carascals. Chain monorail cranes are generally preferred for transporting small tonnage loads because they are smaller in size. Steel ropes carry the same load in a quieter and smoother manner than the chain. In addition to this, chain monorail cranes are suitable for loading at higher heights and quickly.

Periodic inspections of monorail cranes are required because they carry heavy loads and threaten the health of employees. This obligation is required by the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Under normal conditions, monorail cranes should be able to lift and suspend at least the 1,25 level of the declared load and have load brakes resistant to this load.

Our company carries out periodic controls and inspections of monorail cranes in accordance with the standards published by domestic and foreign institutions within the scope of periodic controls of lifting and conveying machines. About this A few standards are based on:

  • TS 10116 Lifting and conveying machines - Cranes - Inspection and test methods
  • Steel wire ropes - Safety - Section 12385: Operation and maintenance information
  • TS ISO 4309 Cranes - Wire ropes - Application rules for inspection and decommissioning
