Drilling is a hole drilled deep into the soil. A drilling machine is used for drilling purposes for various purposes. Simple drilling machines are mounted on a skid or truck. In large drilling systems, the functions carried out by the individual machines are combined in the drilling machines and made possible by a single machine. Drilling rigs are generally used for surveying or researching mineral and water resources. Drilling rigs are divided into various groups according to their main functions as drilling method, such as rotary drilling machines, impact drilling machines or combined working drilling machines. In addition, drilling machines are divided into groups such as slide drilling machines, special purpose drilling machines and superimposed drilling machines according to their mounting conditions.

Drilling works are generally carried out with the aim of taking samples from soil or rock, measuring groundwater levels, performing pressure water testing, penetration testing or standard penetration tests, or measuring well deviations.

The necessary precautions should be taken for the safe and dangerous operation of the drilling machines and periodic inspections should be carried out on time.

The minimum requirements for the health and safety of work machines and equipment used in workplaces are included in the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment. According to the regulations, the drilling machines should be inspected and inspected at least once a year on a regular basis.
