Electrical Installation Compliance Checks

In accordance with the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, enterprises are obliged to have their existing electrical installations checked at least once a year. These checks should be performed by electrical engineers, electrical technicians or high technicians. According to the said regulation, employees must be protected from the risk of direct or indirect contact with electricity due to any work equipment used in the enterprise. In the annexes of the Regulation (Annex 3), it is envisaged that regular inspections of electrical installations, earthing installations, lightning conductor installations and accumulators, transformers and similar electrical installations shall be carried out.

Apart from the aforementioned regulation, the Grounding Regulations in Electrical Installations, the Electrical Current Installations Regulations and the Electrical Indoor Installations Regulations and TS EN 60079 standards must be taken into consideration during these checks carried out by the competent authorities. The controls and reports issued in this way are in compliance with the occupational health and safety regulations and are deemed valid in the audits carried out by the auditors of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

In general, the following basic controls should be carried out during the control of the electrical installation: main distribution board and sub-boards, fuse boxes, machinery and equipment electrical lines, sockets, generators, compressors, hydrofoil pumps, lightning rods and lightning protection systems.

During the inspections, all fuses, switches, leakage current relays, current carrying capacities of the cables in the panels, connections of the conductors in the panels, labeling of equipments such as switches, fuses and leakage protection devices in the panels, safety of the cables in panels and fuse boxes against mechanical effects, Continuous transport to end-user points, safety of the panels against external mechanical effects and temperature effects and many other points are checked, voltage drop measurements, grounding measurements, loop impedance measurements, insulation resistance measurements and other necessary measurements are made.
