Periodical Inspection and Inspection of Liquefied Petroleum Gases

Liquefied petroleum gases are obtained from crude oil. Liquefied petroleum gases, called liquid petroleum gases, also known as LPG, are mixtures of gases such as propane and butane, which are obtained when the oil is distilled and then liquefied under pressure. Liquid petroleum gases are obtained not only from petroleum but also from underground natural gas deposits.

The liquefied petroleum gases, which are a flammable gas mixture, are naturally non-toxic, colorless and odorless. However, odor is added at a concentration of 1 per cent to detect gas leaks.

It is filled into tanks or tubes as liquid under pressure and transported by tankers. When the gas is filled into the cylinders, the 15 percentage of expansion is generally left in the cylinders. This cavity fills with the gas evaporated in the tube. During use, this gas is drawn from the tube. LPG cylinders must therefore always stand upright.

According to statistics, the percentage of fires caused by LPG in all fire incidents is 6. However, the percentage of deaths due to LPG is 25 and the rate of injuries is 55.

The liquefied petroleum gases produced in oil refineries are transported by tubes to the houses or workplaces and a small spark is sufficient for use.

LPG leakage begins to accumulate at the bottom and reduces the rate of oxygen in the environment. As soon as oxygen in the air drops below 17, there is a danger to life. However, the real danger of LPG is due to the fact that the assemblies are done by unauthorized and untrained enterprises, the use of poor quality materials, the tanks and spare parts have reached the end of their life and the services are not adequately inspected.

Liquefied petroleum gas tankers are covered by pressure vessels and installations in accordance with the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment and are inspected by authorized persons and organizations at least once a year.

Our company, within the scope of regular checks of pressure vessels liquefied petroleum gases regular inspections and inspections of tankers in accordance with the relevant legal regulations and standards published by domestic and foreign organizations. A few standards considered in these studies are:

  • TS 1445 Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) - Transport Rules
  • TS 1446 Liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) - Storage rules
  • TS 1449 LPG filling and unloading rules - Safety requirements
