Compressor Periodic Inspection and Inspection

Today, compressed air, together with electrical energy, is a very important energy source used most in industry. A mechanical energy source is used in the compressors and the air is converted to high pressure energy. The compressors not only compress the air, but also the gases depending on their application areas and higher pressures are obtained.

Compressors have different characteristics and different working methods for their production methods and usage areas. For example, some compressors compress the air by reciprocating movement of the pistons. The operating principle of some compressors depends on the centrifugal force or the axial current movements. There are also different types of compressors, such as gas and steam compressors or hydraulic compressors.

However, all machines and equipment where pressure is used carry an explosion risk. Therefore, to ensure human health and property safety, compressors must be subject to regular inspections. This legal obligation is a requirement of the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. In the annex of this regulation titled bakım Maintenance, Repair and Periodic Inspection husus, compressors are accepted in the group of compressed air tanks. This group includes portable or stationary compressor air tanks, as well as any container containing compressed air and their stationary equipment. The hydrostatic pressure test must be carried out at each stage of the compressive compressors in accordance with the regulation, and 1,5 times the maximum permissible pressure of the compressed air tanks and their stationary equipment at that stage.

Our company carries out periodic controls and inspections of compressors within the scope of regular controls of pressure vessels in accordance with the relevant legal regulations and standards published by domestic and foreign organizations. A few standards based on these studies are:

  • TS 1203 EN 286-1 Tanks - Simple - Non-flammable - Pressurized - Designed to store air or nitrogen - Part 1: Pressure tanks for general purposes
  • TS EN 1012-1 Compressors and vacuum pumps - Safety rules - Part 1: Air compressors
  • TS EN 13445-5 Pressure receptacles - Non-contact - Section 5: Inspection and testing
