Land Tanker Periodic Inspection and Inspection

Land tankers which do not have certain characteristics in terms of life and property safety and whose physical conditions and technical equipment are not suitable for the transportation of chemicals or fuel, are generally not allowed to be loaded and unloaded. The statistics show that the weight of highways is around 50 in dangerous goods transportation. Because of the magnitude of the risk, enterprises are sensitive to the protection of environmental conditions as well as safety of life and property in the transport of dangerous goods such as chemicals or fuel oil by road tankers.

With these concerns, in 1957, the European Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road, shortly the ADR Convention, was issued. The purpose of this Convention is to increase the safety of international transport by road. European Union countries, as well as countries that wish to become a member of the Union are obliged to comply with this convention. Our country also participated in this contract in 2005. In 2013, the Regulation on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road was issued by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, based on the European Union directive.

The purpose of the said regulation is to ensure that all dangerous goods are transported safely by road without harming people, other living assets and the environment. In this context, the regulation regulates the responsibilities, obligations and working conditions of the people who send, receive, load, unload and transport the dangerous goods.

Apart from this regulation, there are other legal regulations. For example, the regulation on the safe transport of radioactive materials, the type approval regulation on motor vehicles and trailers designed for the transport of dangerous goods on the road, the regulation of control of pollution caused by dangerous substances in water and environment, the regulation of control of medical waste, the regulation of control of hazardous waste and the regulation of hazardous chemicals.

Pursuant to the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment, it is an obligation for land tankers to comply with certain principles and conditions in addition to the fulfillment of the relevant legal regulations during the loading, transportation and unloading of dangerous goods.

Our company carries out regular inspections and inspections of land tankers within the scope of regular controls of pressure vessels in accordance with the relevant legal regulations. A few standards considered in these studies are:

  • TS 1445 Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) - Transport Rules
  • TS 1449 LPG filling and unloading rules - Safety requirements
