As per the Elevator Maintenance and Operation Regulation, annual regular inspections of elevators should be carried out by type A accredited inspection bodies. The said regulation aims to use elevators, which are used for transporting people and cargo, in a way that does not threaten the health and safety of the environment, people and living things. Accordingly, the regulation regulates the operation, maintenance, annual inspections, inspection of the services and the rules to be followed for warranty and after-sales services.
The Elevator Regulation (95 / 16 / AT), issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, covers the basic health and safety requirements that elevators and their associated safety equipment must meet before they are placed on the market.
Type A accredited inspection bodies are the inspection bodies accredited within the scope of TS EN ISO / IEC 17020 standard, carrying out regular inspections and inspections in elevators. After the elevator inspection procedures, these organizations document that the elevators are installed and operated in accordance with the principles of the Elevator Regulation.
In this regard, Municipalities are also responsible for authorizing A type accredited inspection bodies for regular inspections of lifts within their borders and ensuring that controls are carried out. The aim of these activities is to ensure the safety of the people and the safety of the transported loads. Type A accredited inspection bodies are required to carry out their work in an impartial and independent manner.

Another regulation concerning the regular inspections and inspections of elevators is the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Law. The aforementioned regulation regulates the minimum health and safety requirements for the use of elevators. Accordingly, people and cargo lifts should be checked regularly at least once a year unless another time is stipulated in the relevant standards.
Annexes to the Regulation on maintenance, repair and periodic inspections (Annex 3) are comprised of elevators, lifting and conveying vehicles carrying people and cargo. It is a legal obligation that the inspections to be carried out must be carried out by mechanical engineers, machine technicians or high technicians. In addition, since the elevators are equipped with an electronic control system, it is necessary to participate in the control work by persons authorized for electricity.
