ECO-DESIGN Tests

Eco design is the reduction of environmental impacts throughout the entire life cycle with better product design. Approximately 80% of product-related environmental impacts can be determined at the design stage. Thanks to the environmentally friendly design, money and energy can also be saved. Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) is an approach that includes designing all stages from the cradle to the grave in a more environmentally friendly way, starting from the design phase of a product. It includes making products that require eco-design more sensitive to nature, using resources in the most efficient way and encouraging recycling. It is the integration of environmental features into product design in order to improve the environmental performance of the product throughout its life cycle.

Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) Directive 2009/125 / EC or environmentally friendly design (ECO-DESIGN) directive and Energy Labeling Directive for products requiring eco-design related to energy, It plays an important role in the European Union's strategy to reduce energy and resource consumption as effective tools to improve its efficiency. Environmentally friendly design has been paved by the Integrated Product Policy in Europe. In the EU, Directive 2009/125 / EC has been enacted on this subject and is implemented by separate regulations according to product groups.

Why is the ECO-DESIGN Directive important?

As part of its sustainable product policy, it helps to optimize the energy and resource consumption of products that require eco-design, used in the business environment and homes.

As the driving force of innovation with the regulations adopted within the scope of the ECO-DESIGN Directive, it enables the producers to make more efficient energy and sourced products.

It is especially important for key technologies and advanced productions, as it helps the specialized industries to become more competitive.

Legal framework in our country and in the world

Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) Directive no 2009/125 / EC or ErP (Energy Related Products) Directive:

It replaces the EU's directive 2005/32 / EC (EuP Directive) on environmentally friendly design (Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN)) of products that require energy-using eco-design (EuPs).

It establishes the rules at the level of the EUROPEAN UNION that improve the environmental performance of products that require household appliances, information and communication technologies or engineering eco-design.

It sets the minimum requirements for the energy efficiency of products that require Eco-design, thus contributing to the removal of trade barriers and improving the quality and environmental protection of the product.

The Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) Directive, which is a framework directive, does not lay down the binding requirements for energy related eco-design products (ErPs), but is adapted through implementation measures on a case-by-case basis for each product group. Product groups referenced through implementation measures are developed within the Work Plan. In accordance with the implementing regulation and directive Article 16 (1), the European Commission adapts the Working Plan prepared for 2-year periods.

Scope

It is applied to products that have an impact on energy consumption throughout the life cycle, from production and use to disposal. Implementing regulations and directives do not apply to human or goods transport.

Energy-using products (EuPs) are products that use energy (electricity, gas, fuel oil) such as boilers, computers, televisions, transformers, industrial fans, industrial furnaces.

Other energy-related products (ErPs) are products that do not use energy but are energy efficient and can therefore contribute to energy savings such as windows, insulation materials, shower heads, taps.

ErPs Implementation regulation and directive (Article 15) is applied to products that meet the following energy-related criteria.

·         Selling over 200.000 units a year in the EU

·         Has a significant impact on the environment

·         Possible potential for improvement

Specific Product Regulations

Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) Implementation regulations and directives are implemented in all European Union Member States through specific regulations of products requiring eco-design.

Eco-design or Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) regulations require Product owner manufacturers to reduce the energy consumption of their products that require eco-design, by developing minimum energy efficiency standards. The Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) requirements for each product group are established within the scope of the Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) Implementation regulation and directive managed by the Commission. As an alternative, industry sectors can sign up-to-date agreements to reduce the energy consumption of their products that require eco-design, and such agreements are formally recognized and followed by the European Commission.

There are specific product regulations according to the product categories regarding the implementation of the Implementation regulation and directive numbered 2009/125 / EC regarding the Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) requirements of products that require eco-design.

Marking and EC Declaration of Conformity (Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) Implementation regulation and directive Article 5)

Before a product within the scope of implementation measures is offered to the market and / or service in the EU, the product owner manufacturer or the real / legal person resident in the Union who has undertaken the obligations of the manufacturer must ensure that the product complies with the implementation measures and this compliance is declared. CE marking must be attached and EC Conformity must be declared. The importer company in the EU is responsible for the compliance of the product with this implementation regulation and directive and the applicable measures, as well as the maintenance & provision of the EC Declaration of Conformity, in the event that the owner manufacturer is not established in the Union and there is no "Authorized Representative". Documentation for the Conformity Assessment and the EC Declaration of Conformity must be prepared in the relevant Member State language in which the product was placed on the market.

CE Mark

Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) Implementation regulation and directive - specified in Annex III. Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) Energy-related eco-design products that meet the requirements of Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) in the implementation measures of the implementation regulation and directive must bear the CE mark and accompanying information for free movement in the internal market. . You can also get support from TÜRCERT for CE marking.

Conformity Assessment

Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) In accordance with Article 8 of the implementation regulation and directive, the conformity assessment must be carried out before the product is placed on the European Union market. The owner manufacturer or Authorized Representative on behalf of the product owner manufacturer must meet all requirements of the application measures specified in the specific product regulation for the product before placing the product on the European Union market.

Conformity Assessment Procedures, Conformity Assessment Procedures that require product owners to choose between the "Internal Design Control" in Annex IV of the Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) Implementation regulation and directive, and the "Management System" in Annex V, Eco- It is selected from among the modules defined in Annex II of the Decree No. 768/2008 / EC, which draws the general framework of the rules for placing products that require design on the Market. Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) It is specified in specific product regulations regarding the implementation of the application regulation and directive.
