A REACH compliance certificate, or REACH Certificate, is a document stating that the product to which it belongs conforms to the principles of the European Union REACH directive 1907 / 2006. The REACH Certificate is issued by an impartial and independent competent authority that tests and analyzes products and evaluates them in accordance with the requirements of the directive.
If a substance or mixture within the scope of the Directive exceeds the production volume of 1 tonnes per year, each substance must be registered under the REACH directive. These records are maintained by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), providing a REACH registration number.
The aim of this directive is to create alternative methods for the assessment of substance hazards on the one hand and to increase competitiveness and innovation on the one hand, in order to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the natural environment. The REACH regulation is also important to ensure the free movement of these substances within the European Union.
If a product of the type garments, toys and electrical appliances is of high concern (SVHC, Substance of Very High Concern), or if it contains any of the restricted substances listed in the annexes of the REACH Directive, REACH tests are required.
Today, no country permits the importation of any product containing more than 0.1 percent by weight of an anxious substance (SVHC) or which does not meet the REACH restriction requirements. It is not possible to offer such products to consumers in European Union countries.
In the REACH directive, the substance is defined as follows: The substance is a chemical element and its compounds obtained by its natural state or by a production process. The additives used in these processes and the impurities that occur during the process are also considered as substances. However, solvents which can be separated without affecting the stability or the composition thereof are excluded. If the density of the base component is 80 and above, these are monocomponent substances. If the density of the base component is between 10 and 80, these are multi-constituent substances. Accurate determination of the composition depends on many factors, including the starting material as well as the production processes.
Producer companies have to prepare a technical file about their products. In general, this dossier should contain information on the identity, production and use of the substance, information on classification and labeling, guidance for safe use and information on the specific properties of the substance.

In our country, the REACH directive has been published by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization under the name of Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals in 2017. According to the regulation in question, all substances which are produced or imported in their own or in a mixture with an annual amount of 1 tons and above shall be registered by the end of 2023 at the latest.
