The safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness of welded products require adequate quality of resources. Welding processes are processes that require special controls to achieve the desired quality of the product. Failure to check that the source is made correctly can, in the worst case, lead to catastrophic errors and deaths. In addition, enterprises that do not adequately control their welding processes have to undermine product safety, as well as cost overruns, delays and contractual problems.
The control of welding processes as a special process is carried out by the quality requirements method for fusion welding described in the ISO 3834 standard. This standard has also been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute under the following headings:

This standard has specific requirements for the competence of all employees in their welding operations and welding responsibilities. In welding processes, each employee who may affect the final product quality must have the appropriate competence. As a result, welding processes are processes that require unique controls.
In fact, the importance of competence in welding processes has long been recognized. For example, in 1918, a shipping company's report on the application of arc welding to shipbuilding recommended that enterprises use specially trained, experienced and efficient persons in the use of the welding system, and that they should be investigated by authorized and approved inspectors. These suggestions were included in the Lloyd Rules in 1920. In the following years, specifications and standards for welder approval have emerged. For 1960s, specifications for non-destructive testing (NDT) and resource inspection personnel competence have been published.
Nowadays, the control of the welding as a special process and the quality requirements for fusion welding are addressed in the ISO 3834 standard. This standard specifies specific requirements for the competence of employees with resource responsibility. This standard covers welders, non-destructive testing personnel, welding inspectors and welding coordinators. In short, it is imperative that all employees have the necessary competence to influence the final quality of the resources in the products. Duties and responsibilities in welding coordination are included in TS EN ISO 14731 Resource coordination - Duties and responsibilities. The correct application of these two standards (ISO 3834 and ISO 14731) is the key to the cost-effective production of safe and reliable welded products.

- TS EN ISO 14732 Welding personnel - Qualification examination of welding operators and welding adjusters for fully mechanized and automatic melting of metallic materials
