ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

The development of technology, the increase in industrialization and the easier life become more beautiful, the job has a bad side: the increasingly deteriorating ecological balance of the world. Yes, the ecological balance of the world has deteriorated. Today, the consciousness of protecting the environment has become a necessity rather than a need. Natural resources are incredibly exhausted, and if no measures are taken today, future generations do not expect a beautiful world. As a matter of fact, the measure is taken even late. Every person should not only keep the environment clean, but also use natural resources efficiently.

The survival of living things depends on the natural resources being adequate and renewable. There are natural resources on earth, but they should not be considered to be unlimited. One of the most serious problems of the century is that natural resources are being exhausted rapidly. The increase in industrialization and the proliferation of the population as well as the increasing demand due to the increasing demand is also a factor. Today, environmental problems have become more important than ever. After that, everyone should have one goal: to protect the environment, not to waste natural resources and to leave a more livable world to future generations.

The development of the understanding of environmentalism and the increase of interest in the protection of nature emerged in the second half of the nineteenth century. On the one hand, with the emergence of environmental consciousness, official organizations have become more sensitive to non-governmental organizations. For example, Greenpeace, the International Union for Nature Conservation and the World Nature Conservation Foundation are some of these organizations. In our country, Turkey Combating Soil Erosion in this area, Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats (TEMA), Environmental Protection and Packaging Waste Recovery and Recycling Foundation (ÇEVKO), Turkey Environment Foundation and other foundations have been established.

In the international dimension, the United Nations Organization provided the importance of environmental issues. First, the United Nations Conference on Human and Environment was held in Stockholm in 1972. The Millennium Development Goals, adopted by all states at the Millennium Summit held in 2000, also include environmental issues. In parallel with this, starting from 2000 years, all countries have focused on the environment in terms of political, social and economic aspects. Environmental awareness is tried to be created, various activities are organized, measures are discussed and legal arrangements are made. In this regard, legal regulations are being implemented in our country, especially in the scope of European Union harmonization studies.

Nowadays, wastes are the main environmental problems to be solved. Wastes create great danger for environmental pollution. In general, solid wastes are classified as domestic, industrial, medical, agricultural, hazardous and special wastes (batteries, batteries, radioactive). For the protection of the environment and human health, wastes must be removed with appropriate methods and effectively from the nature. If wastes such as paper, cardboard, glass or plastic can be collected separately at their source, they can be recycled through recycling. If it is not possible to recover the waste and use it again, then it must be destroyed without damaging the people and the environment.

Within the scope of environmental protection studies, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standards have been published by International Standards Organization (ISO). These standards, of course, are not a substitute for the current legal regulations, but only as a guide for the enterprises. These standards enable enterprises to manage environmental dimensions, develop and implement environmental policies. With the application of these standards, enterprises can see and control the harmful activities of the environment.

ISO 14000 standards consist of a set of standards. The main environmental standards are:

ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems - Terms and Conditions of Use

ISO 14004 Environmental Management Systems - General guidance on principles, systems and supporting techniques

ISO 14031 Environmental Management - Environmental performance evaluation - Guide

ISO 19011 Quality and environmental management systems review guide
